The vision of the gap* comes from 2 people, Steve Silverton and Charles Clayton, whose hearts were stirred over a game of pool 4 years ago, to go out into the streets of Sutton Coldfield to get alongside young people. Both had been in youthwork for many years and had grown frustrated at the lack of support for young people, especially those who were 'harder to reach'.
3 years of planning, researching and praying led to the decision to start an organisation thats only focus was to meet young people, identify needs in those young people and invest in them. This work would be supported by the local churches, local business and local authorites, providing emotional, physical and spiritual support to the young people.
Since that initial conversation, the gap* has just entered its second offical year as an organisation, having delivered 810 hours of youthwork, equating to over 3000 volunteer hours and the dream that once was, is now a reality to the community.
