Andrew Mitchell MP has visited The Gap project in Sutton Coldfield to meet with its founders Charles Clayton and Stephen Silverton and to review the projects progress to date.The Gap is a project committed to providing support for marginalised and excluded young people in Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas. Aimed at 13-21 year olds the project seeks to encourage more young people to find purposeful employment, combining both educational and emotional support.
Mr Mitchell heard from Youth Worker and Projects Coordinator Charles Clayton who was pleased to report progress in the early stages of the programme.
Successful schemes include, The Gap Drop In venue on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings where young people can relax and get advice from trained mentors, and The Gap ‘Street Teams’ who are available every Tuesday evening.
Pledging his full support to the project, Andrew Mitchell said, “This is a great initiative which will give Sutton’s young people further support and advice. I wish The Gap project every success for the future
